Pastor and Sis. Pfohl
Blessed to have met in college, as study partners in biology, Pastor and Sis. Pfohl quickly became close friends and soon realized they were made for each other. After they were married they began a quest to know more than what they had received in their denominal upbringing. What a miracle that as Pastor Pfohl endeavored to further his education in immunology at Duke University he was met by a young apostolic man and started in bible study. After months of study Pastor and Sis. Pfohl were rebaptized in Jesus name and filled with the Holy Ghost. What a change! The scriptures declare "new creature" and that is exactly what happened. Growing up spiritually under the ministry of Pastor Johnny Godair, Durham NC, has truly been a hallmark in their lives.
In the mid 90's Pastor and Sis. Pfohl began working with the Hispanic community in Durham, NC and quickly saw a spanish speaking congregation grow. For 14 years they labored with the First Pentecostal Church of Durham and saw wonderful revival in the hispanic community, with 100's baptized and filled with His Spirit. There is a thriving church there today under the capable leadership of Bro. Jesse Galindo and Pastor Godair.
After four years of evangelizing primarily in the midwest Pastor and Sis Pfohl followed a calling to the Tampa Bay area. This call had been tugging at them for over 2 years, in which they continued in the work of an evangelist and continued in prayer and fasting for the Tampa area. The Lord opened many doors including great revivals around the Tampa area. During these revivals Pastor Pfohl began outreach in the Tampa area meeting people and teaching a multitude of bible studies. In February of 2012 the first official service of the Church of Pentecost was held in the Mainsail conference center. What a great service with 14 in attendance! It was a great start to something greater!
There have been many awesome works of the Lord during these past few months. Doors opening, many baptized and filled with His spirit and many souls touched and healed. Pastor and Sis. Pfohl truly believe that there is a unique and great revival for the city of Tampa and they feel priveledged to be able to be a small part of it!
The Local Assembly
In a world that is always changing, we believe that Jesus Christ stays the same! Many people are tired of tradition and cold religion. We worship a God that you can feel and that can change lives! We are an active assembly from many walks of life and different cultures. We truly enjoy our unity in the gospel and our diversity in the body. We truly are a book of Acts church!
There truly is only one God, who revealed Himself to humanity in the person of Jesus Christ and dwells in His people as the Holy Ghost or Holy spirit. (Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Timothy 3:16; John 14:9, Acts 2:4)
Salvation belongs to the Lord and is His doing. Religion, traditions of man, a 12 step program, or a eloquent speaker and pastor, pope etc. can not save! Only God can.
Salvation belongeth unto the LORD: thy blessing is upon thy people. Selah.
Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost;
This indeed is the new-birth experience comprised of repentance (our release to Him), water baptism in the name of Jesus Christ (the washing), and the infilling of the Holy Spirit (the renewing). This is the New Testament pattern for all believers to follow as a result of their faith in Christ. (Acts 2:38; Luke 13:1-5; Acts 10:44-48; Acts 19:5-6, Acts 22:16, 1 Corinthians 6:9-11)
The Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit or as often is called the Holy Ghost is the power of God resident in us. (Acts 1:8) The intertwining of the Spirit of the Living God with our very own soul. How Awesome! We believe that when a person receives the baptism of the Holy Spirit, that person will speak with other tongues under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.
45 And they of the circumcision which believed were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because that on the Gentiles also was poured out the gift of the Holy Ghost.46 For they heard them speak with tongues, and magnify God.
The wind bloweth where it listeth, and thou hearest the sound (greek is phone = voice or speech) thereof, but canst not tell whence it cometh, and whither it goeth: so is every one that is born of the Spirit.
(Acts 2:4; Acts 19:6; Isaiah 28:11)
The Christian Walk
We believe that believers are called to live a holy, pure life before God and all humanity serving the Lord and their community. (2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; Hebrews 12:14)
